B3 Breaks: Intentional Positive Communication

This series is all about getting honest with ourselves and noticing the things that we carry with us. We each have our own life experiences to go from and sometimes it's hard to truly understand what it's like to be someone else. What we can do to create change is to start with ourselves. If each of us took one action each day in our own lives, we can collectively change the world around us, but what does it take? It takes work and practice. We have to be honest with ourselves as we get there. To do that, we have these B3 Breaks in order to pause and assess our thoughts before we speak to take an honest look at our interactions in our day and the energy that we may be creating around us.

We ask other people questions and learn their stories and experiences. We create positive energy with the people around us and find peaceful ways to show our support to our friends, our family and acquaintances. We observe all of this without judgment. We are present with the people we are with and we show up in love. What can we do? We start with the little things. This series is all about short practices that you can put into your day. Practice this each day just for 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes or whatever it takes, so that you can observe your energy and be intentional with the energy you create around you because if you believe you can, you will.

Intentional Communication: If we all take more responsibility for the communication that we put out into the world and the kind of energy we want to create with the people around us, we could create more positive communication amongst us.

For our B3 Break, I wanted to talk about communication. A lot of times it's easy, especially in times like this, to go down into the negative because there are so many things outside of our control. There are news stories, social media posts and things that people might say about your family members or friends or coworkers, where you get drawn down into stress and anxiety that may not be helpful for your health. It's important that we all take control and responsibility for the energy that we put out in the world. Maybe we can do a practice of if you say something negative or think something negative, what positive thing could you offset with that? Maybe something hard is happening in your business or your career, but at the same time, what positive has happened or what's new learning or some opportunity that's going to help you into the future.

If we all take more responsibility for the communication that we put out into the world and the kind of energy we want to create with the people around us, we could create more positive communication amongst us rather than this all drawing down into a negative space. Try thinking about this practice. Every time you have a negative thought, try to offset it with something positive and with a way that you could change the energy rather than drawing people down. Hopefully, you'll be able to create more positive energy for yourself and the people around you.
