Receiving to Replenish

This month is a turning point into the summer meridian. The cold is leaving, and we welcome the warmth of spring turning to summer. Getting outside for fresh air and observing the new growth in nature is always refreshing for the soul. It is a time to plant new things and replenish our gardens as well as our souls. 

Have you lost sight of who you are? Do your habits indicate who you really are? Are you doing things that are good for you and your soul? During this season, it is a good time to take a look at the habits that you have and try to reestablish habits or start new ones that bring you joy and are a part of your authentic self.

I am a runner. I had kind forgotten that is part of who I am during these winter months. I didn’t want to get out in the cold to run and I really dislike the treadmill. Getting back into running is difficult. The mileage that used to be easy now seems hard, but it is part of who I am, so I am establishing running again as a daily routine. I don’t need to go fast or even long. I just need to get out and run. Take those first steps (literally!)

Who are you? Are you compassionate, a problem solver, a leader…? Take steps to be that person. That’s all there is to it. They can be small steps. One step at a time, be that person. Finding time for yourself is all a part of achieving balance in our lives. As Amy says in her book Business, Balance, and Bliss, “balance is an investment in you.” Finding balance is “not about the end result, but rather about the process.” So just start taking those first steps!

Take time to reflect on who you are and who you want to be. Meditation is a great place to start. A regular practice of meditation allows you to explore your own mind about what is important to you. Meditation also helps to relieve stress, work through your emotions, and rediscover your authentic self.
