Episode 67: B3 Breaks: The Power Of Mantras

Everyone, welcome to the show where anything can be possible, because when you believe you can, you will. This series is all about getting honest with ourselves and noticing the things that we carry with us. We each have our own life experiences to go from. Sometimes it's hard to truly understand what it's like to be someone else, what we can do to create change and to start with us. If each of us took one action each day in our own lives, we could collectively change the world around us. What does it take? It takes work and practice. We have to be honest with ourselves as we get there. To do that, we have these B3 Breaks in order to pause and assess our thoughts before we speak, to take an honest look at the interactions in our day, and the energy that we may be creating around us.

We ask other people questions and learn their stories and experiences. We create positive energy with the people around us and find peaceful ways to show our support to our friends, our family and acquaintances. We observe all of this without judgment. We are present with the people we are with, and we show up in love. What can we do? We start with the little things. This series is all about short practices that you can put into your day. Practice this each day for 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, whatever it takes, so that you can observe your energy and be intentional with the energy you create around you. If you believe you can, you will. Our show begins now.

For our B3 Break, we are going to take a trip with our mind and do a meditation. We are going to escape to another place where we feel calmer and feel that sense of peace. What I'd like you to do is if you're sitting on a chair, put both feet on the floor and draw your shoulders to the back of your chair. If you don't have a back of the chair, you can sit up tall. Bring your hands on top of your thighs and drawing to the crown of your head. Take a moment now to settle into your breath and maybe closing your eyes, inhaling to a count of one, exhaling to a count of two. Inhaling three, exhaling four, and settling into the space, noticing how you're slowing that breath down. Calming your body, noticing how that breath can calm down that central nervous system so that you feel more still.

As you count those breaths, if you get distracted, just pause, observe the thought, take a breath and let it go. As you sit here, noticing the rise and the fall of that breath, I want you to form an image in your mind of a place where you feel calm. For now, I'm going to create the image of a lake or a body of water, and noticing how that feels, seeing that image of that water, taking it into that mind's eye, maybe into your heart, and seeing that body of water coming into greater focus. Seeing the ripples of the water, the sun hitting it, and seeing it shimmer in the sunlight.

Power Of Mantras: When you might feel tension and stress, how do you get back to calming your mind, to feeling still again, so that you can feel the way that you want internally, make sure that you can be as productive as possible, and create the energy that you want for the people around you?

You notice that the water is deep or muddy or blue or green or clear. What I want you to notice is the water becomes still, there's no wind, the surface of the water is like glass. It's completely still. You're seeing a reflection of the sky or trees or clouds. Maybe a small breeze or wind may come and stir the lake or the water with a little bit of ripples. Maybe you'll see that shimmering of diamonds of the sunlight reflecting on the water. Maybe you notice the sunset as the day comes to an end, or when it's coming into darkness, the light of the moon reflecting off the water.

As you stay here, notice your breath, establishing this image of this lake or body of water in your mind's eye. Notice the energy that it creates in your body, the stillness, that feeling of calm or happiness. Allow your heart and your mind to be open to that feeling. Moment by moment, reflect on whatever comes up from you, experiencing those complete moments of stillness. Capture that before you start coming back into awareness, before opening your eyes and coming back into the room that you're in. See if you can capture that feeling to take it with you. When you might feel tension, where you might feel stress, how do you get back to calming your mind, to feeling still again, so that you can feel the way that you want internally, and make sure that you can be as productive as possible, and create the energy that you want for the people around you.
